Edmund Drury

b. 1810   d. 1874

(Back to Father)

Edmund was the sixth son of Joseph Drury and Ann Heath and was christened at St. Nicholas Church on 17th June 1810 (Ref: 01).

When Edmund's brother Richard returned to Canada after marrying Elizabeth Bishop in 1831, Edmund went with them and set up home in Vespra Township. He had spent one year and one hundred and fifty days in the 70th Regiment of Foot and so he applied for a land grant as a discharged soldier. He was granted 100 acres of Lot 26, Concession II, Vespra Township (Midhurst)

After his marriage to Eliza Hickling he purchased his father's original Lot, Lot 30, Concession I, Oro Township, from his brother Thomas and farmed it for about 10 years until he sold it in about 1866

Eliza died 20th Jan. 1868 and Edmund 26th. Jan. 1874 (Ref: 31). Both are buried at Old Midhurst Cemetery.

Edmund married Eliza Hickling, daughter of George Hickling and Elizabeth Denston.
