William Drury

b. 1801   d. 1870

(Back to Father)

William was the second son of Joseph Drury and Ann Heath. He was christened at St. Nicholas Church Kenilworth on 8th. November 1801 (Ref:01).

William Drury was convicted at Warwick Assizes and sentenced to be deported to Australia for life and was deported to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania), Australia in 1819 (Coincidentally the same year Joseph and sons departed for Canada !).

He is shown in the Convict Musters 1817-1821 in Tasmania.

Whilst in many cases this was effectively a death sentence he clearly survived and eventually married and settled in Tasmania. He died in 1870 in Tasmania.

William married Mary Ann Morgan (b.1819 d. 1842) from Frome in Somerset.

We only have some sketchy details about the family supplied by Carol Barwick as follows:

Mary and William had at least one daughter Ann (Annie) Drury (b.1840 d.1925) who married Richard Daniels.
